44

Hello, October 3rd. We meet again.

Recently I read an article that says human beings age at a molecular level in two accelerated bursts. First at the age of 44, and then again at 60. Oh shit……

But somehow I feel that my first burst already occurred when I was 40 years old. Are the scientists correct? Is it always 44 years old? Do some people experience their first burst earlier? OR maybe what happened 4 years ago wasn’t the first burst and mine is coming soon. *HORROR*

I feel that I’ve already crossed the halfway mark of my life. And sometimes I can’t help but dream about the movies they won’t make of me when I’m dead. Sometimes I feel that I should do something different for the rest of my life. Do something that people will remember when I’m gone.

Nowadays I’m starting to be more concerned about my health. I’m very fortunate to be healthy despite not taking good care of this body. But I think my luck will run out eventually. Need to do more to keep this 44 years old body healthy. Going to the gym often is a good start although I’ve been slacking lately. Need to find the motivation again.

But that’s for another day. Right now, I just want to chill and relax. Enjoy the next few days before I start working hard again.

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later, they all will be gone
Why don’t they stay young?

Happy 59th Birthday Singapore

Today is Singapore’s 59th birthday. Many people don’t realise that Singapore is perhaps the only country in modern day history to be forced to be independent. I’m always fascinated by the story behind Singapore’s independence. The last few days leading to Singapore being expelled from Malaysia. One thing that I find interesting is the Proclamation of Singapore document.

The Proclamation of Singapore was signed by the then Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew on 9 August 1965 to formally declare Singapore becoming an independent and sovereign nation separate and independent of Malaysia. The Proclamation was read over Radio Singapura on 9 August 1965 at 10 am. Only the recording of the original Malay announcement remains.

Singapore shall forever be a sovereign democratic and independent nation, founded upon the principles of liberty and justice and ever seeking the welfare and happiness of her people in a more just and equal society.

The Proclamation of Singapore is perhaps the most important document in Singapore’s history. It signifies that Singapore is an independent country. Yet it was printed on a plain piece of paper with staples and filling holes. It’s an interesting story that I feel more people should know about.

The Proclamation of Singapore used to be on display at the National Gallery Singapore but it’s no longer there. I guess it is kept at the National Archives of Singapore. Hopefully, it will be on display again soon.

Marvel is desperate……

I guess nobody has Robert Downey Jr. is Doctor Doom in their 2024 Bingo card. The internet is filled with fans’ reactions to this news. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of this announcement. RDJ is and will always be Iron Man to a lot of fans. It’s hard to see him as a villain in the same universe.

But I’m not going to say no to this. It really depends on how they execute the story. I’m hoping they don’t screw it up like how they screw up almost every Marvel movie after Endgame. Let’s hope this is a good call and will bring us more amazing movies.

PS: If you haven’t, do check out Deadpool & Wolverine.

Singapore aims to provide at least half a million homes with 10 Gbps fixed broadband services by 2028 with all the major internet service providers upgrading their network. With the help of the $100 million grant by IMDA, consumers can expect more competitive, higher-speed service offers with new home networking equipment like routers.

While we still don’t have any use case for 10 Gbps internet, there is no harm in getting the network ready so that we can utilize it when the use case comes along.

PS: I know the image above doesn’t make sense as some of the landmarks are in the wrong place. But that’s what ChatGPT think future Singapore looks like with high speed internet.

And just like that, it is October. Where did 2021 go?

I’ve been looking back a lot lately. Thinking of the past and all the crazy stuff that I’ve done. (Crazy in my context but most likely mild and boring to most people) Some of the things felt like just a few years ago but in actual fact it’s been more than 10 years. It’s amazing how time flies. Have to constantly remind myself that I’m not young anymore.

I’m also starting to forget some of the stuff. Let’s be honest. It’s impossible to remember everything from the past 41 years. There is simply not enough storage in the brain to store so much data. Luckily I still have old photos, sms, emails, calendar schedules, social media post etc etc to remind me. And I guess there is no need to remember everything. Just remember the important ones will do.

Oh ya, this is a scheduled post. I scheduled it to be published at 9:40am because I’ll be at HDB signing myself in the biggest debt I’ve ever taken. It’s a coincident that HDB scheduled our lease agreement signing date on my birthday. I wonder if there’s any birthday promo. Lol.

Last year, I wished that my 40s will be extraordinary. It has not been extraordinary yet but it is going to. I’m always slow to start but I’ll eventually catch up and even exceed.

Cheers to 41.

Let us die young or let us live forever

We don’t have the power, but we never say never

Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip

The music’s for the sad man

PS: I know I’ve been neglecting this blog lately. I’ll try to blog more frequently. TRY.

What’s happening?

In case you missed my previous blog post, I’ve decided to change my blog hosting to WordPress.com. The previous web host is fabulous but too expensive for my personal needs. Hosting on WordPress.com is a lot cheaper. I managed to get a very good deal on Black Friday. So good that I decided to sign up for 2 years. The amount that I’m paying WordPress for 2 years is less than 50% of what I’m paying my previous web host for 1 year.

Which means I’m staying with WordPress.com for at least 2 years. Fingers crossed. Let’s hope everything goes well.

So what’s new? For a start, the URL is now dk.sg. No more blog.dk.sg. But the good thing is that if you type blog.dk.sg, you’ll still be redirected to this blog. So let’s hope I don’t lose anyone with this move. You can also access this blog via blogdksg.wordpress.com but I’ve no idea why would anyone want to do that.

And the biggest and most obvious change is that all the old post has been removed. Part of me is lazy to transfer all my old blog entries to WordPress.com. And the file size is quite big too. More than 3GB worth of data. The current WordPress.com plan that I’m on only gives me 6GB storage. So I think it is better for me to start new. Besides, who needs to read my old blog entries from 2005?

But don’t worry, I have everything back up in my Synology NAS. I could basically host the old blog from my NAS but I don’t really see the need for it actually. So it is just going to stay in my NAS in case I want to refer to some old stuff.

I guess the rest will more or less be the same. I’ll still be blogging about the things that I usually blog. There are some new things that I want to try out too. Let’s see if I manage to find the time and motivation to do them. In the meantime, please excuse the current mess here. Still a lot of things need to be done on this new blog. Hopefully I can get them done within the next few week.

PS: Just curious for those who are still using RSS reader. Does this new blog post gets delivered to your RSS feed? Is anyone still using RSS reader?
