Nintendo eShop and Switch Online services coming to Singapore

Good news! Shortly after the establishment of Nintendo Singapore Pte. Ltd., the eShop and Online services will be launching in Singapore from 18 November 2025.

With Nintendo eShop, users can purchase and download games, download downloadable contents, and Nintendo Switch Online membership. Currently, Singapore users have to register an account in another country (usually America or Japan) and pay in their local currency. Having an eShop here means that we be able to purchase digital games and Nintendo Switch Online services in SGD.

Specific service contents will be announced at a later date. The Nintendo eShop and Switch Online services will also be launching in Thailand and Malaysia on the same day. Philippines launch will be announced on a later date.

Kodak Charmera

Remember Kodak? They recently released a small keychain camera. It’s a cheap and fun toy camera sold in a blind box like those Labubu from Popmart. Comes in 7 designs (6 normal and 1 special).

It shoots photos and videos. Don’t expect great photos and videos. It’s a toy camera. But that’s the beauty of it.

The only problem with the Charmera is that it is out of stock everywhere.

Age n in year n²

Two days ago, I received an email from myself back in 2015, sent via FutureMe.

It’s me reminding myself of this interesting YouTube video that is suitable for today. Today is my 45th birthday and so happens that the square of 45 is 2025 which is this year. This doesn’t happen often so I guess it is a call for celebration.

I guess it is only right for me reply that email to PastMe although I have no way of sending this to him.

Dear PastMe

Thank you for the YouTube video. As you have expected, I’ve completely forgotten about it and this came as a timely reminder. You should see the smile on me while watching the video.

I’m now typing this at home. I still go to Starbucks but not as often as 10 years ago. You really should stop drinking Grande Latte with 3 packets of sugar. That is so unhealthy and I’m paying for it now. Nowadays my drink of choice is Vanilla Latte (occassionally with low fat milk). Still sinful but not as often as before. At least the FutureMe in 10 years time won’t be complaining about it.

In case you are wondering, that trusty MacBook Pro is no longer functioning. Same for the iMac that you are using at home. I’m now using a MacBook Air M2 connected to 27 inch monitor. You should have made that switch earlier instead of having a iMac and MacBook Pro. I’ve stopped using a MiFi. iPhone tethering is the way to go and I’m really not sure what’s the latest 5G speed. It is fast enough and I don’t really care about the advertised speed which we all know is overly inflated and not a reflection of real life.

I noticed that you wrote that email to me on 19 July 2015. Just want to let you know that 6 days ago, you met the girl whom you will marry in 8 years time. Our second year anniversay is just 4 days away. It’s going to be a long journey but you’ll get there. Anyway, shall not tell you too much about the future. Like Doc Brown said in Back To The Future, “No one should know too much about their destiny.”

I have no idea how this will reach you. But if somehow this managed to reach you, the Toto winning number for 20 July 2015 is 3,17,25,28,34,46. And use some of the winnings to buy Bitcoin.

Regards
DK from 2025

DJI announcing a 360 camera on 31 July

It is not a secret that DJI is working on a 360 camera. In fact, there are lots of leaks about this camera already. I’ve even seen leaked images of the retail package and price tag.

Anyway, we have an official announcement date. 31 July 2025, 8pm Singapore time. Mark your calendar. We have a new challenger in the 360 camera market.

Nintendo Switch 2 launching in Singapore on 26 June 2025

While some countries will be getting the Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 June 2025, Singapore (together with Thailand and Philippines) will only be getting the Switch 2 on 26 June.

We still don’t know the official price yet. But at least we are getting the console just a few weeks later.

Update: The Nintendo Switch 2 console will retail at S$719 while the Mario Kart World Bundle will retail at S$769.

Canon Showcase: A better version

What does “a better version” of yourself really mean?

Canon Singapore held an event recently dedicated to creativity without constraints. 15 creators in Singapore from different backgrounds were invited to take part in a special creative challenge.

Their only brief? Interpret the theme: “A Better Version.” No guidelines, no rules. Just them, their stories, and Canon’s newest creator-first cameras: the PowerShot V1- compact, intuitive, made for vlogging and the EOS R50 V, a powerful new addition designed specifically for high-quality video creation.
